If you're driving down Jind Road out of Rohtak, you'll pass through Tatauli. That’s where Vijay High School is. It’s a busy road, and we get a lot of noise from the trucks and buses going past. The school has been part of this landscape for a long time. We have high school students who are mostly focused on their board exams and what they’re going to do after they graduate. The classrooms are basic, filled with rows of desks that have seen many years of use. We don't have a polished corporate look; the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the gate squeaks a bit when you open it. But it works for us. The teachers here are local people who care about the kids doing well. We have a small library that’s a bit cramped but has the books the students need. During the winter, the morning fog is so thick you can barely see the school from the road. We just keep the routine going, year after year. The kids from Tatauli and the surrounding areas walk or bike here. It’s a no-nonsense kind of place. We don’t have big fancy slogans. We just teach the subjects, hold the exams, and watch the kids grow up. It’s just a regular high school on the edge of Rohtak. The days are long, but we’ve got used to the rhythm of the school year and the noise of the Jind Road traffic outside. It's home.
