Ashok Optical

Ashok Optical has been on HB Road in Ranchi for a long time. We are right there in the Lalpur area which is a part of town that’s always moving. Our shop is where we spend all our time looking through lenses and helping people find frames that don't slide off their noses. We have those old wooden cabinets full of different glass samples and frames from years ago mixed in with the newer ones we get. The street noise from HB Road is constant, but inside it's usually just the sound of the grinding machine or the radio playing softly in the corner. Lalpur is a good spot, though the traffic makes it hard for people to park their cars sometimes. We do eye tests in the back room where it's a bit darker and quieter. It’s a simple setup and we haven't changed much over the years. We know a lot of the families around here because we’ve seen their kids grow up and start needing glasses for school. We spend a lot of time cleaning the display cases because fingerprints get everywhere on the glass. The floor is a bit worn down from people walking in over the years. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Ranchi. We just want to make sure people can see clearly when they walk out the door. It’s what we know how to do and we enjoy the routine.
