R.S.Mangalam Kalasam Chilli Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are over at 3/69 in Seelangudi. It is mostly just us farmers here working together under the name R.S.Mangalam Kalasam Chilli Farmers Producer Company Limited. It gets quite hot in this part of the world, which I suppose is good for the chillies we grow. Most days start early before the sun really gets going. You can find us right in the village where most of the families have been farming for as long as anyone remembers. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that, just the space we use to get the crops sorted. Dealing with chillies is hard work because of the dust and the heat, but it is what we know how to do. The people in Seelangudi are mostly involved in this one way or another. We set this company up so we could handle things ourselves instead of relying on middle people who don't always understand the struggle of a bad harvest. It is a group effort. Sometimes the rains don't come when they should, and other times we have too much, but that is just how it goes with farming. We spend a lot of time talking about the weather and the prices at the market. It is not always easy, but having the R.S.Mangalam Kalasam Chilli Farmers Producer Company Limited name gives us a way to stand together. We are just local folks trying to make a living from the land we have here in Seelangudi. We hope the next season is kind and the crops come in good.
