Mahendra Polymers is over at Survey No. 267 on Plot No. 13. We are in Shed No. 2, which is tucked behind Nova Casting and near Sv Polymers. This whole Shapar Veraval area is industrial, so you always hear the sound of machines and smell the manufacturing. Our shed is just a big open space for the polymer materials and our equipment. It isn’t the cleanest environment since there is always some scrap or dust on the floor. Shapar gets really hot in the summer, and the metal roof overhead makes it even warmer. We drink plenty of water and just keep the production line moving. We are a small operation, just trying to stay on top of our daily goals. The road to get here is pretty rough and full of holes, especially after it rains. We see the same people every day from the other sheds nearby, and we help each other out when someone needs a tool or an extra hand. There isn’t a front office to speak of, just a corner with a desk where we keep our records. It’s honest, sweaty work and we don’t pretend it’s anything else. We focus on finishing the batches so they can get loaded onto the trucks. That’s the long and short of what we do here every day. The work is repetitive but it’s what keeps us going. We just show up and do the best we can despite the heat.
