Dip Metals

Dip Metals is located at 2-9 in the Ramani Estate within the Mavdi Plot area. If you know Mavdi Plot, you know it’s a place where everyone is busy making things out of metal. Our unit is one of many in the estate, and it’s usually the sound of the grinders that tells you you’ve arrived at the right spot. We have a concrete yard where the raw materials are dropped off by the trucks. It’s often a bit cluttered with scraps and offcuts, but we try to clear it out once a week. Inside, the space is divided into where the machines are and a small desk where we handle the paperwork. The lighting isn't great, so we have a few extra lamps hanging over the workbenches. We wear old clothes because everything gets covered in oil and metal shavings anyway. It’s not a place for a suit and tie. We’ve been at Ramani Estate for a while now, and we get along well with the guys in the neighboring units. We often borrow tools from each other or help out when a heavy load needs moving. It’s a community of makers, really. We don't have a website or a big marketing plan. We just do the metalwork that people ask for and try to make sure it’s solid. The days are long and the work is hard on the hands, but it’s what we know how to do. We just keep our heads down and get the job done.
