B & D Engineering

B & D Engineering is out in Village Kothariya, right on Street No. 2. We are pretty close to National Highway 8-B, so we get a lot of dust from the trucks passing by all day long. It is a bit of a drive from the main part of Rajkot, but we like having the space out here. The air is a little more open, even if it is hot. We spend a good part of every morning just sweeping out the dirt so we can start work on the machines. My father was the one who got this place going, and I grew up learning how to handle the lathes and the drills. We do a lot of work for the local farmers and the truck drivers who break down on the highway. We do not have a big fancy sign, just the name painted on the wall so people know they found the right spot. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes in the afternoons, we just sit outside on wooden stools and wait for it to come back. There is no use getting frustrated about things you cannot change. We drink our chai and talk about the work. It is not a complicated business. We just take the raw metal and turn it into whatever part is needed. It is a lot of hard work and long hours, but it is what we know how to do.
