The school is located in the Arathi Area, which is quite close to the bus stand here in Shrivardhan. You can usually hear the buses pulling in and out throughout the day if the windows are open. It’s a busy part of town so there’s always people walking by. The building itself is straightforward. We have the usual classrooms and a small office where we keep all the records and files. In the mornings, students come in from the surrounding streets and even some who travel in from further away. It’s a lot of routine work, really. We spend the hours going through lessons, making sure the chalkboards are wiped down, and keeping an eye on the courtyard. The furniture is older, mostly wooden desks that have been used by many groups over the years. You can see where some of them have scratches or marks. During the monsoon, the rain hits the roof pretty hard and it gets quite loud inside. We just carry on with the day. We don’t have any big flashy signs or anything like that. People mostly find us because they live nearby or heard about the place from a neighbor. At the end of the day, we lock up the gates and head home just like everyone else. It’s a practical place for learning and we try to keep things running as smoothly as possible despite the heat or the noise from the street outside.
