We are located over in Village Chhatatar, near Pathardih. Our group, Baghmundih Jungal Mahal Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited, operates from the space at Sumit Mehata’s place. It’s a women-led group mostly, focusing on the work we do in the fields around Baghmundi. Life out here isn't always easy, and the work is physical, but we’ve found that coming together makes a big difference. We don't have an office with desks and computers; it’s more about meeting up at the house or in the village to discuss what needs to be planted next. Sumit helps us with the location and some of the logistics. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, so we know the land well. We started this company because we wanted to have more say in how our crops are sold. It’s a bit of a learning curve dealing with all the registrations and the legal side of being a producer company, but we are figuring it out as we go. There are no fancy uniforms or polished sales pitches here. We just show up, do the work, and try to support each other. If you visit, you’ll probably see us sorting through seeds or planning the next transport to the local market. It’s a very local, hands-on operation where everyone chips in however they can to keep things moving forward.
