We operate out of Gurupada Mahato’s house in Panipathar. That’s in Purulia, a place where the ground can get pretty tough and dry if the rains don't come on time. Puruliya Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically just a bunch of us local farmers who realized we should probably work together instead of everyone doing their own thing alone. It’s not always easy. We have meetings to talk about who is growing what and where we can get the things we need for the next season. The address is 723101, right in the heart of the district. Being a producer company means we have to handle the business side, which is new to some of us, but we're learning as we go. We don't have any fancy mission statements or things written on the walls. We just want to make sure the grain and vegetables we grow actually get sold at a price that keeps us going. Most days, you’ll find us out in the fields rather than at the desk. Panipathar is a small place, and everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We just try to help each other out when a tractor breaks down or when the market prices are looking bad. It’s a humble setup, but it’s ours. We take pride in the hard work we put into the red soil of Purulia every single day.
