A. K. Sarkar Engineering Works

You can find A. K. Sarkar Engineering Works over at the Rip Plot in Muchipara, which is part of Durgapur in the West Burdwan district. This is an industrial area, so there is always the sound of metal hitting metal and the smell of oil and grease in the air. We’ve been working out of this plot for a long time, fixing things and making parts for whoever needs them. The workshop is usually a bit of a mess with scraps of iron and old machines sitting around, but that’s just how engineering works go. We don't have a polished front office or anywhere for people to sit comfortably; it’s a place for hard work. Durgapur is a tough place for this kind of business, but we have our regulars who trust us with their repairs. My hands are usually stained with black oil by noon, and the noise from the welding can be quite loud if you aren't used to it. We just take one job at a time and try to finish it so the next one can come in. Muchipara is a busy spot for workshops, so we are surrounded by people doing similar things. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just a reliable one that gets the job done on Rip Plot. It’s practical work and it keeps us going throughout the year.
