Our garage is in Chinchwad, specifically at Shop No 6, 4 Def. It’s a place where we get our hands dirty every single day. We mainly see Maruti cars coming in, which makes sense given the name on our board. The shop is filled with the smell of engine oil and old tires. We have a couple of jacks and all the wrenches you could think of scattered around the work bays. It’s not a shiny showroom; it’s a working garage where the floors have oil patches and the walls are covered with old calendars. We do the basic stuff like changing filters, fixing brakes, and tuning up engines that aren't sounding right. Sometimes a car comes in with a weird rattle and we have to spend half the morning trying to find out where it's coming from. The traffic in Chinchwad can be a bit much, so we often hear horns honking right outside the shop. We don’t have any slick salesmen here, just a few mechanics who know their way around an engine block. We drink a lot of tea while we work and talk about the cars we’ve seen over the years. People in the neighborhood know us as the place to go when their vehicle needs a bit of attention. We just give them a straight answer about what needs fixing and get on with it. It’s a simple, busy life here at shop number six.
