J S Auto sits right on the Pune Bangalore Highway in Bhosale Nagar, near Giridhar Nagar. Being this close to the highway means we see a lot of different vehicles coming through. Most of our work is fixing things that break down on long drives, or just doing oil changes and checkups for people living around here. It’s a greasy job, and our overalls are never clean for long. We’ve got tools scattered around and parts waiting to be fitted. The sound of the traffic outside is constant, but you stop noticing it after a while. We aren't some big corporate dealership with a coffee lounge. We’re just a garage where you can get your engine checked or your brakes fixed. Sometimes we’re working under a car until late at night because someone needs to get things working again by morning. It’s hard on the back and the hands, but it feels good in hearing a motor run smoothly again. We’ve been at this spot for years, and we’ve seen the highway get busier and busier. We don't use any fancy diagnostic computers if we can help it; we rely more on what we can see and hear. It’s a practical business, and we just take things one car at a time. If you’re passing by and hear a weird noise, that’s usually when people pull in.
