Smart Design Studio

Our little space is tucked away in Sadashiv Peth, right on the Eastend Main Road. If you know where Grahak Peth is, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times without even noticing. Smart Design Studio is basically just a few of us sitting around large tables covered in blueprints and sketches. The street outside is always noisy with scooters and people shopping, which keeps the energy high. We spend a lot of time staring at computer screens or arguing over where a wall should go in a house plan. It’s not like those big firms you see in magazines. Our floor is often covered in bits of balsa wood from models or old pens that stopped working. We drink a lot of coffee to keep going during the late afternoons when the sun hits the front window. Being in this part of Pune feels right because it’s the heart of the city. We’ve had some customers who have been coming to us for years just to ask for advice on a small renovation. We don’t have a receptionist; usually, whoever is closest to the door just looks up and says hello. It’s a bit messy sometimes, especially when a deadline is coming up and there are rolls of paper everywhere. We just enjoy the process of making things look decent on paper before they get built.
