I run things out of my flat in Ram Society, which is over in the Joshi Nagar part of Yerwada. It’s Flat 196 in Building 9. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time, away from the main road noise. My workspace is just a desk in the corner of the main room with a lot of papers and folders piled up. I’ve lived in Yerwada for years, so I know the streets around here pretty well. People come by to see me about various things, usually related to paperwork or advice they need. It’s not a formal office with a sign outside or a receptionist. You just come up the stairs and knock on the door. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids are playing in the hallway, making a bit of a racket. I spend a lot of my day on the phone or writing things down in ledgers. The light in the flat is good in the morning, which makes it easier to read the small print on some of the documents. I make tea for myself about three times a day and maybe for a guest if they are staying for a while. It’s a simple setup, nothing fancy. I prefer working this way because I can manage my own time and stay close to home. Sometimes the building gets a bit hot in the summer, so I keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through Joshi Nagar. It’s just a quiet, local way of doing business.
