Shrungar Beauty Parlour

My shop, Shrungar Beauty Parlour, is in Shaniwar Peth. We are quite close to Shaniwarwada, so there’s always a lot of movement outside. The building is old, like many others in this part of Pune. I’ve been working here for many years. It’s a simple parlour for women. We do things like haircuts, coloring, and waxing. I don't have a huge staff, usually it’s just me and maybe a girl I’m training. The space is tight, but we’ve arranged the chairs and mirrors to make it work. Customers just drop in when they have time. We don't really do the whole appointment thing unless it’s for a wedding. Shaniwar Peth is a traditional neighborhood, and my shop fits right in. I use basic products that everyone knows. Sometimes the water pressure is low, so we have to store water in buckets. It’s not a luxury salon, just a place to get cleaned up. I spend my day chatting with the regulars about their kids and the local news. The traffic outside can get really bad, especially in the evenings. We just keep the door shut and the fan on. It’s a small life but it’s mine. I like being my own boss and knowing the people who walk through that door. We just try to do a decent job so people come back next time they need a haircut.
