Parmar Mastani Parlour

Our shop is number 5 in Anand Nagar, right on Juhu Church Road. If you walk past the church, you’ll see our sign. It’s a small parlour, but we keep it clean. The blenders make a lot of noise during the evening rush when everyone wants a mastani. We have these big metal containers for the milk and the fruit pulp. It gets quite sticky behind the counter so we are always washing our hands and cleaning the surfaces. The stools out front are where people sit and talk while they wait. Juhu Church Road can get really loud with the cars and rickshaws, but inside it feels a bit more relaxed. We keep the fridge stocked with fresh ingredients because that’s the main part of the job. Sometimes we run out of a specific flavor and have to tell the customers to try something else. Most of the people who come in live in the nearby buildings in Anand Nagar. We’ve known some of them for years. It’s a simple routine of opening up, prepping the toppings, and serving the thick shakes. We don't have a lot of space for storage, so we have to get deliveries almost every day. The floor is made of grey stone and it stays relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. We just focus on getting the drinks right and keeping the place tidy enough for the next group.
