Shree Eye Clinic

If you head down into the basement of the Ganga-Bhiva Complex in Chinchwadgaon, you will eventually find us at Shop Number 2. It is a quiet little spot, mostly because being in the basement keeps us away from all that main road noise. We spend our time checking people's eyes and helping them pick out frames that actually fit their faces. A lot of folks come in complaining that their vision is getting blurry or that their old glasses just don't work for reading the newspaper anymore. We have the usual eye charts on the wall and the machines used to test eye pressure. It is not a massive operation by any means, just a small clinic where we take our time with every person who walks through the door. Sometimes the basement gets a bit cool during the rainy season, but it is usually a nice break from the heat outside. We see a lot of school kids needing their first pair of glasses and older neighbors who have cataracts starting to cloud their vision. We keep a variety of lenses in the back. The shop is quite small, so we have to keep everything very tidy just to move around. It is just how we run things here in Chinchwad. We have known many of these families for several years now. It is always nice when someone puts on a new pair of glasses and can finally see the street signs clearly. We just do the exams and make sure the prescriptions are right.
