Shantai Clinic

If you’re walking down Bhawani Peth Road, you’ll probably see our sign for Shantai Clinic near the BSNL office. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows where the phone office is. The clinic itself is quite small, just a couple of rooms really. We’ve been operating out of Bhawani Peth for a good bit now. It’s a busy area with a lot of shops and people moving around all day. Sometimes the noise from the street comes right through the front door, especially when the big buses go by. We don’t have a big fancy waiting area, just some benches where people sit and wait their turn. I usually get in early to open up the shutters and sweep the front sidewalk. It’s mostly just one or two of us working here at any time. We see a lot of the same faces every week, mostly folks who live in the houses right behind the main road. The lighting inside is those old tubelights, and we keep the files in some metal cabinets that have seen better days. It’s a simple setup, nothing too modern, but it does what it needs to do. People come in for all sorts of small things, and we just handle them one by one. It can get really hot in the summer, so the cooler is always running then. We don't really do much advertising or anything, word just gets around the Peth. It's just a regular neighborhood clinic for the locals.
