Salim Mens Parlour

Our shop is at 242 Guruwar Peth in Pune. It’s a busy street and there’s always something happening outside the door. Salim started this place quite some time ago. We have the usual barber chairs and big mirrors that have seen better days. Most of the men from the neighborhood come here for their regular haircut or a quick shave. We don't do anything too complicated, just what people ask for. The radio is usually playing some old songs in the background while we work. On weekends, it gets crowded and people have to sit on the bench outside and wait their turn. We talk about the news or what's happening in the peth while the scissors are moving. There's always hair on the floor that we have to sweep up every few hours. It’s a simple life. We know most of our customers by name and how they like their sideburns trimmed. Sometimes the kids come in and they’re a bit scared of the clippers, so we have to be patient. We use the same old razors and sharpen them carefully. It’s not a fancy salon with air conditioning that freezes you out. It’s just a place to get cleaned up and have a chat. We’ve been at this spot for years and we don’t plan on going anywhere else soon. People know the blue sign outside and they know they can get a decent cut for a fair price without any trouble at all.
