Sai Ganesh Boutique

You wouldn’t really expect a boutique to be here in the Industrial Area at No. 5-A, but that’s where we are. It’s a bit of a trek for some people to find us, but once they find the door, they usually come back. Inside, it’s full of thread and different types of cloth piled up. We spend our days measuring and cutting things out. My aunt used to say that a good stitch takes time and she was absolutely right. We don’t rush things here. Sometimes we have to tell people to wait an extra day because the finish wasn't quite right to my eye. It’s just me and two other girls working the machines most days. We drink a lot of chai while we work. The light in the morning is the best for seeing the colors correctly. We don't have a big sign outside, just the number painted on the gate. People usually bring their own ideas or a photo they found in a magazine. We try our best to make it look like that, but sometimes fabrics don't behave the way you want them to. It’s a lot of trial and error in this business. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and fabric by the end of the day. It’s a small space, so we have to stay organized or we lose the scissors every ten minutes. It's a simple life here in the industrial zone. We just focus on the clothes and the customers.
