S P Deshpande Eye Clinic

Our clinic is located at Sr. No. 550/551 in the Avanti Apartment building. If you are in Narayan Peth, you probably know where the Mati Ganpati temple is. We are right across from there on Kelkar Road. It is a very traditional part of Pune. S P Deshpande Eye Clinic is on the ground floor, so it is easy to walk into. We have the usual eye charts on the walls—the ones with the letters that get smaller at the bottom. The lighting is a bit bright because we need to see what we are doing with eyes. Narayan Peth is always crowded with people going to the temples or the shops. There is usually a line of scooters parked out front of Avanti Apartment. It gets a bit noisy during the festivals because of the drums and the crowds. We have a small sink in the corner and a cupboard full of supplies. The chairs in the waiting room are okay, not great for long sits, but okay for a short wait. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the papers pile up on the desk in a bit of a mess. It’s a busy life here in the Peth. People come in with glasses that need fixing or just to get their vision checked. The glass case with the frames is always getting fingerprints on it from people trying them on. It is a practical place for the local community.
