We've been around here for a while now, mostly dealing with the kind of tools people need when they have to get a measurement exactly right. It's funny how things have changed over the years but the basics of measuring haven't really moved much. Precision Measuring Instruments Co. is where we spend most of our days, tucked away and keeping things moving. We use Post Box No. 5111 for most of our mail because it’s just easier that way than having people drop stuff off at a door that might be locked. Sometimes the shop gets a bit dusty but that is just part of working with hardware and metal. People stop by or call when their old calipers give out or they need something new for a project they are starting. We aren't a big fancy office with glass walls or anything. It is just a workspace where we keep the inventory organized on the metal shelves. Most of us here have been doing this for a long time, so we know the catalog pretty well. You get used to the smell of light oil and the sound of things being boxed up for shipping at the end of the day. We try to keep enough stock so nobody has to wait too long for their items. It is a quiet living, but it works for us. We don't spend a lot of time on fancy talk, we just make sure the instruments go out to whoever needs them.
