Pragati General Stores

You can find us at Shop No 5 in the Ram Hari Complex. We are in Gawade Colony, over in the Sangamvadi area of Chinchwad. This shop has been here for a while now. Pragati General Stores is just a small place for the local people who live nearby. We keep the basics that every house needs like soap, oil, flour, and things for the kitchen. The colony is a quiet enough place most of the time but we stay busy with the regulars. We don't have a lot of help working here, so usually it’s just one or two of us behind the counter. The shelves are a bit old and we might not have the fanciest brands you see on TV, but we have what works for everyday life. We don't do any big marketing or put up posters. Our customers are just the people living in the buildings around the complex. Sometimes we run out of certain items because the delivery truck didn't show up on time. We just tell people to come back the next day. It’s a very casual way of doing business compared to the big stores in the city. We know which neighbor likes which brand of tea or which biscuits the kids want. It makes the day go by a bit faster when you know everyone by name. Chinchwad is growing very fast lately, but our little corner in the complex feels just the same.
