Mahi Camphor

Mahi Camphor is located out in Ghotavade at Vithal Nagar 1254 and you can usually smell us before you see us. That strong scent of camphor is everywhere in the building and it even stays on my clothes when I go home at night. We have these machines that press the powder into those little white tablets and they make a steady rhythmic thumping sound all day long. It is a fairly simple operation with a few of us making sure the hoppers are full and the packaging is going right. We have stacks of bags filled with the raw material in the corner and then the finished boxes stacked up on the other side ready to go out. The area here in Ghotavade is a bit quieter than the city which I like. It is mostly a lot of repetitive work like weighing the packets and sealing them with the heat sealer. Sometimes the dust from the camphor makes you sneeze if you are not careful. We have a small area where we sit and eat our lunch and it is just a plain room with some basic benches. It is not a complicated business but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. The floor is always a bit white from the powder and we have to sweep it down every evening before we lock up the gates.
