Yogita Dry Cleaners

Yogita Dry Cleaners is situated in a basement shop which is Shop No 1 over at Narmada Pat. It is right on the Chinchwad Tumkur Main Road in the Keshav Nagar area. Being in a basement means it stays a bit tucked away, but the heat from the steam irons makes the whole place feel very warm even in the winter. The noise from the main road above is constant, with trucks and bikes always passing by. We spend most of the day sorting through piles of clothes, checking for stains, and making sure the tags do not fall off. It is a lot of standing on your feet and the air always smells like starch and laundry soap. Sometimes the machines are all running at once and you can barely hear yourself think. We have to be careful with the fancy sarees and the heavy suits that people bring in for special occasions. Keshav Nagar is a busy spot so there is always someone dropping off a bundle of shirts or picking up their laundry on the way home from work. The counter is usually covered in notebooks where we scribble down the orders and the phone numbers. It is not a glamorous job, just a lot of steam and folding and trying to keep everything organized so nothing gets lost in the stacks. We just keep working through the piles until the shop closes up at night and we can finally turn off the big irons.
