Prachi Beauty Parlour

This parlour is my little space in Gokhale Nagar. We’re on the main road, right behind the PMC school ground and quite close to the Shivsena Kacheri. It’s a busy little corner of Pune. I’ve been running Prachi Beauty Parlour from this shop for a while now. Most of my customers are women from the nearby houses who just need a quick threading or a hair wash. During the school hours, you can hear the kids playing on the ground behind us, which is a nice sound to have in the background while I work. The shop is small, so it gets full quickly when three or four ladies are waiting. I have a few chairs and my shelves are full of different creams and bottles I’ve gathered. I don't use anything too expensive, just what works for the local ladies. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait a bit, but we just sit and talk. I handle everything myself mostly, so if I’m busy with a facial, the next person has to wait on the plastic chairs by the door. It’s not a high-end salon, just a regular beauty parlour where people feel comfortable. I try to keep the place clean, but with the main road right there, the dust always finds its way in. It’s a lot of work but I like being my own boss in this neighborhood. Things are simple here and we like it that way.
