Parth Flower Decorators

Our shop, Parth Flower Decorators, sits right opposite the Sant Gadge Maharaj School in Jijamata Nagar. We are in the Kondhwa Khurd area. Being across from a school means we see hundreds of kids and parents passing by every morning and afternoon. It brings a lot of life to the street. The shop is usually filled with the smell of marigolds and roses. We spend most of the day sitting on low stools, weaving garlands or prepping floral displays. It’s a lot of work with your fingers, and they get quite sore and stained by the end of the week. The floor is almost always covered in green stems and stray petals that we sweep up at the end of the day. Kondhwa Khurd is a busy place, and there is always something going on nearby. We don't have any air conditioning, just a big ceiling fan to keep the flowers from wilting too fast. People stop by to buy a small string of flowers for their prayer or to talk about bigger arrangements for their homes. We don't have a fancy catalog; we just show people what we have available that day. It is a simple business, really. We rely on the seasons and what the markets have to offer. It’s a lot of early mornings and late nights during the festival season, but we just get on with it.
