Living and working out of 76 Camp Nirmala Niwas has its rhythm. It’s a quiet enough corner, though the sounds of the neighborhood always drift in through the windows. I’ve spent many years here. The walls of the office are lined with things I’ve collected over time. It isn’t a corporate setup with glass partitions. It’s just a room where things get done. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour and everything stops, so I just sit on the porch and watch the people go by. Nirmala Niwas is a familiar name to everyone around here. Most people know where the gate is. I handle a lot of the paperwork myself. There is a specific way I like to keep the logs. It might look messy to someone else, but I know exactly where every sheet of paper is. My family has roots in this area, so we know the local shops and the people who run them. It’s a simple life. You wake up, have tea, and start the day’s tasks. There is no rush to be the biggest or the loudest. I just want to finish what I started today so I can relax in the evening. The air in Camp feels a bit different than the rest of the city. It’s more relaxed. That suits the way I work just fine. I try not to overcomplicate things that don't need it.
