You can find us at A 438 Rasta Peth, which is right inside Kamala Nehru Market. We are quite close to the Shaniwar Peth Police Station, so that’s a good landmark if you’re trying to find the place. Painters Dedgaonkar has been around this neighborhood for quite some time. The market is always crowded, especially in the mornings when the vegetable sellers are active. Our shop is small but we pack it with everything a painter might need. We have brushes, rollers, and different kinds of tins stacked up to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a maze inside. Most of our customers are local contractors or people living in the old wadas nearby who want to fix up their homes. We talk a lot with the people who come in. It’s not just about selling stuff; it’s about hearing what’s going on in the area. The building is old, and you can feel the history of Rasta Peth here. We don’t have any fancy decorations. We just use the space we have. Sometimes we stand outside on the pavement to catch a bit of breeze because it gets stuffy inside with all the paint smell. It’s a steady life. We close up when the market starts to wind down. It’s a good community here, and we know most of the other shopkeepers by name. We just keep things simple and honest. No point in making things more complicated than they need to be.
