Onama Architects

Our office is tucked away at Kothrud 9Th Cross, specifically in Freedom Fighters Colony, Laggere 156. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but once you find it, it’s a decent place to work. We started Onama Architects because we wanted a place where we could just get down to the business of designing without all the corporate noise. The space is small, and sometimes the traffic noise from the cross nearby can be a bit much, but you get used to it. We spend a lot of time looking at floor plans and arguing over where a window should go. It’s not always glamorous work. There’s a lot of back and forth with contractors and trying to make sure the materials actually show up when they say they will. Most of our days are spent drinking tea and sketching out ideas on whatever scrap of paper is nearby. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Usually, someone sees a house we worked on and asks who did it, and that’s how they end up here in Laggere. The colony is quite lively, so there’s always something happening outside. It’s an honest way to make a living, just putting buildings together and making sure they don’t fall down. We like keeping things on a smaller scale because it means we can actually talk to the people we’re building for. It’s about being reliable for the folks who live right here in our own neighborhood.
