Namdev Naik

My name is Namdev Naik and I stay busy at 40 Vishrantwadi on Ambedkar Road. We are in the Ganesh Vishwa building. If you know the area, we are quite close to the Govinda Veg Hotel. People often stop there for a meal and then wander over to see us. It’s a busy part of town with a lot of foot traffic. Ambedkar Road is always full of people going to work or running errands. Ganesh Vishwa is a sturdy building, though it could use a fresh coat of paint one of these days. I’ve been in this space for a good while. Inside, it’s a bit cluttered with papers and samples, but I know where everything is. My desk is right by the window so I can see what’s happening on the street. It helps me stay connected to the neighborhood. The noise from the traffic is constant, but you stop hearing it after a few months. Sometimes my friends from the nearby shops come by for a quick chat and a cup of tea. We don't have a big staff, it's just a few of us making sure things get done. I try to keep a regular schedule, but sometimes a project keeps me late. The light in the hallway flickers sometimes, I keep meaning to tell the caretaker. It’s a practical place for a practical job. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing.
