Mahaboob Play School

If you head down to Newale Wasti in Chikhali, you’ll find Mahaboob Play School at number 1031. It’s a local neighborhood school through and through. The streets around here are often dusty, and you can hear the sounds of the nearby workshops and houses. We’ve set up our space to be as comfortable as possible for the little ones who come to us from the surrounding blocks. It’s not a giant campus; it’s a modest place where we know the families who live just a few doors down. We spend our mornings setting out the mats and getting the toys ready. There’s a lot of sweeping to do because the dust from the road always finds its way in. We don't have any big corporate banners or anything. It’s mostly just us, the teachers, and the kids who are learning their first letters and numbers. Sometimes we have to deal with minor repairs, like a leaky tap or a door that won't shut right, but we manage. The parents usually stop for a chat at the door when they come to pick up their children in the afternoon. It’s a very grounded kind of place. We focus on the basics and making sure the kids are safe and occupied while their parents are at work. It’s a simple life here in Chikhali, and we’re just a small part of the daily routine for the people living in Newale Wasti.
