You can find us up on the first floor of Siddharth Complex, specifically in Shop No D-12. Being right at Dhayari Phata means there is always a lot of traffic on Sinhagad Road. If you look out our front window, you can see the Vitthal Mandir just across the street. It is a good landmark for people trying to find us. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep, so some folks take their time coming up. Inside, we have our charts and the machines for checking eyes. We keep a lot of frames in the glass cases, though they get fingerprints on them constantly. We spend a good chunk of our day cleaning those. Sometimes it gets quite loud with the buses honking outside, but we’re used to it by now. The floor is that old tile that stays cool even in summer. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the next person to walk in. Most people come in because they cannot see the signs on the road clearly anymore. We check their vision and help them pick out something they can wear. It isn’t a massive operation. Just a few of us working in this shop. We have seen the neighborhood around Dhayari Phata grow quite a bit lately. More shops have opened in the complex, but we have stayed in the same spot for years, just helping people see a little bit better every day.
