Landewadi is a pretty industrious area, and our gala is just one of many in this row. It’s a practical space, meant for getting work done rather than hosting visitors. We spend most of our time dealing with the industrial side of things. There’s always a lot of metal or parts lying around, and the floor is usually a bit greasy from the machines. It’s just the nature of what we do. The team here is small but we’ve worked together for a long time, so we don’t need to talk much to get the job done. We start early in the morning before it gets too hot. The noise from the other galas in Shanti Nagar is constant, but it’s a good kind of noise because it means everyone is busy. We aren't into big corporate speeches or anything like that. We just focus on the tasks at hand and try to stay organized as much as possible. Sometimes we sit outside for a break when the weather is decent. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living, and we’re happy to be settled here in this part of town. We usually keep the doors open to let in whatever breeze we can find.
