Kipa Architect

Kipa Architect is located in Vishrantwadi, Pune. We are in Building Number 5, Flat Number 8. It is a quiet enough area of the city and we have been in this building for a while now. The office is small and usually smells a bit like old paper and strong coffee. We have two main desks where most of the work happens throughout the day. The walls are painted a dull white and there are bookshelves filled with building codes and old catalogs that we rarely look at but can’t bring ourselves to throw away. Working out of a flat means we have a small balcony where we go to take a break from the screens. We can see the street from there and watch the school buses go by in the morning and afternoon. We do not have a receptionist, so if the door knocks, whoever is closest just gets up to answer it. It is very informal. We use a lot of tracing paper and those mechanical pencils that always seem to run out of lead at the wrong time. Pune 411 006 is our little corner of the world. Some days are slow and we just talk about the news, and other days we are scrambling to finish a set of drawings before the sun goes down. It is a steady kind of life. We just keep our heads down and do the drawings as they come in.
