Our office is right there in Gopalpatti, near the Z.P. School in Haveli, Pune. It’s a busy area and things move pretty fast around here compared to the more remote villages. Jay Rajeshwara is basically a small team of us trying to bridge the gap between the farms and the city markets. Being in the Pune district gives us some advantages, but it also means there is a lot of competition and the costs are always going up. We work out of H NO 670 and you’ll usually find someone there sorting through bills or talking to transporters on the phone. It’s not always quiet, especially with the school nearby and all the traffic passing by. We deal with a lot of different crops because the land around Haveli is used for so many things. One day it’s vegetables, the next it might be something else entirely. We try to keep things simple. We aren't big on fancy titles or big meetings. Most decisions happen over a cup of tea while we look at the latest market reports. The goal is just to keep the business running so the farmers we work with can keep their farms going for another season. It’s a lot of manual work and checking on quality. We’ve had our share of mistakes, like everyone else, but we learn and keep moving. It feels like a real accomplishment when we finally get a big shipment out.
