Janata Khadi Bhandar

We have been here at Janata Khadi Bhandar in Sadashiv Peth for a long time now. Our shop is tucked away in the Soba Arcade, right near the Bank of India on Laxmi Road. It is a busy area with lots of people walking by every day. We mostly deal with khadi cloth and things made from it. The shop is small but we keep it packed with different fabrics and ready-made kurtas. Some days it gets quite crowded, especially when people are looking for cotton clothes for the summer. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the stacks of cloth get a bit messy. It is just the way it is when you are handling so many different colors and textures. People know us for being in this spot near the bank. We open early in the morning and stay until the evening lights come on. The fan in the corner makes a bit of noise but it keeps us cool while we work. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. It is just us and the shelves full of cloth. Most of our regulars have been coming to Sadashiv Peth for years to buy from us. We handle the billing ourselves and talk to everyone who walks in. It’s a simple life here on Laxmi Road. We just keep doing what we do every day without much fuss.
