Indian Transport Carrier

Out here in J P Transport Nagar, things are always moving. Our spot is at Nigdi Om Yashodhan, right near Hanuman Chowk. If you know Sector 23, you know it's full of trucks and the smell of diesel. We’ve been at Plot No 155/B for some time now. It’s not a quiet place, but that’s transport for you. There is always someone shouting about a load or a driver looking for his paperwork. We spend most of the morning on the phone or shouting over the noise of engines starting up outside. The office is small, just enough room for the ledgers and a couple of chairs that have seen better days. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the trucks to arrive or depart. Sometimes a delivery is late because of rain or a breakdown, and we have to figure it out on the fly. It’s not a clean job; there’s always dust from the road settling on the desks. We wipe it off and keep going. My hands usually have a bit of ink or grime on them by the end of the day. Indian Transport Carrier is just a bunch of us making sure things get from one point to another without too much trouble. We don't have a big fancy lobby. You just walk in, state your business, and we see what can be done. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. The traffic in the nagar gets bad around five, so we try to finish early.
