Akshay Roadlines

Akshay Roadlines is based out of Nigdi 151. It’s a simple setup we’ve got here, mostly just a place to park the trucks and a small office for the paperwork. The office is basically a metal cabin that gets incredibly hot in the summer. We have a fan that rattles all day, but it doesn't do much. Most of our work involves moving goods across the state. The drivers are the ones who really do the hard part, spending days out on the road. When they come back to Nigdi, they usually have a lot of stories about the traffic or the weather. We try to keep the trucks in good shape, but with the miles they put on, something is always needing a fix. I handle the scheduling, which is like a big puzzle that never quite fits together perfectly. Sometimes a driver gets sick or a truck gets a flat, and then everything has to change. It’s not a perfect system, but we make it work somehow. We’ve been in Nigdi for a long time and the neighbors know us by the sound of the engines in the morning. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just a few of us trying to keep the business going and making sure the goods get delivered. We’re just regular folks doing our best to keep the wheels on the road.
