Gurudatta Hardware

We are located right on the Pune Solapur Road, which gets pretty loud with all the trucks passing by during the day. The shop opens up around nine in the morning most days. Usually, the first thing is just moving some of the bigger buckets and pipes out front so people can see we are open. It’s a bit dusty because of the road work always happening nearby, but that’s just how it is around here. Inside, the shelves are pretty packed with everything from different sized nails to various plumbing fixtures. There isn't really a fancy system for finding things, but we know where most of it is kept. Sometimes a customer comes in looking for a specific bolt and we have to dig through a few bins to find the right one. It’s mostly locals from the neighborhood who stop in when something at home breaks or they need a new padlock. We spend a lot of time just talking to people while they wait for us to measure out some wire or cut a piece of pipe. There is a small stool in the corner where someone usually sits to have tea in the afternoon. It's a simple setup, nothing too modern, just a place with a lot of heavy metal things and the smell of oil and wood. We keep the doors open to catch whatever breeze comes off the street, even if it brings in more dust.
