F S Electronics

Down in Parvati, specifically Sector 20C, is where you’ll find F S Electronics. It is a small shop filled with wires, old circuit boards, and the smell of hot solder. We spend most of our time hunched over a workbench with a magnifying glass, trying to figure out why a television won't turn on or why a board has fried. It’s quiet work for the most part, except for the occasional sound of a test signal or someone coming in to ask if we can fix a remote. Parvati is a nice area, but Sector 20C is just a regular neighborhood. We aren't a big showroom with bright lights. Most of our space is taken up by items waiting to be picked up or parts we’ve saved from old machines. Sometimes we can't find the part we need and have to wait for a delivery, which frustrates us as much as the customer. We’ve been tinkering with electronics for a long time. It is just what we do. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just us and our tools. If a neighbor’s radio stops working, they bring it over. We take a look, see if it’s worth fixing, and tell them straight. There is a lot of dust on the shelves and we probably should organize the drawers better, but we know where the resistors are. It is just a steady life in the shop.
