Bhor is a quiet taluka in Pune district. My shop is right here in the main village area. It’s just a small space where I keep my tools and some spare parts. I’ve lived in this district all my life. The shop at A/P:Bhor is nothing fancy to look at. The paint is peeling a little near the bottom of the walls. I spend my days looking at broken televisions and other household things. Most people here know me by name. I don't have a big staff, it's just me and sometimes a younger lad who wants to learn. We don't have any polished sales pitches. If something is broken, I tell them how much it will be and how long it will take. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so I just sit outside for a bit. The street is narrow and the kids play nearby. It’s a peaceful place to work. I have a lot of old components in jars because you never know when a 20-year-old machine will come in. It’s not about making a huge profit. It’s just about staying busy and being part of the town. I keep my ledger on the desk and write everything down by hand. It’s a simple life and I don’t ask for much more. Most days, I close up early if the work is finished. It's just how we do things here.
