Copper Chocs is located in the Camp area, which has always been a busy part of town. Our shop is a bit small, but we pack it with as many chocolates and cakes as we can. Being in Camp means we get everyone from students to old-timers who have lived here for decades. The smells in here are usually pretty good because of the cocoa and the baking. We spend most of our time behind the glass cases, rearranging the truffles and making sure the cakes look okay. It’s not a high-tech operation. We still write out a lot of things by hand and talk to our customers about what they’re looking for. Sometimes the shop gets crowded and people have to wait on the sidewalk for a minute. We try to move as fast as we can without being rude. The weather affects the chocolate, so we are always fussing with the air conditioning to keep things from melting. It’s a lot of work to keep everything looking right. We’ve been a part of this neighborhood for a long time. People come in for birthday treats or just a quick bar of chocolate after lunch. We aren't a big chain, just a local spot in Camp where you can find something sweet. It’s just us doing our best every day. We keep the counters wiped down and the shelves stocked as much as possible.
