Down at Viman Nagar on Shiv Vallabh Road, you’ll find us at G/43. It’s a small space, mostly taken up by the ovens and the display cases. Being a Cookie Man shop means the whole area around the door usually smells like baking chocolate and sugar, which I guess is why people stop in when they are just walking by. We start the baking early so the first batch is ready when the shops around us open. It’s not a very big shop, so if five or six people come in at once, it feels really full. We have these glass jars and trays everywhere. Sometimes the oven gets a bit temperamental and we have to keep a close eye on the timer so nothing gets too dark. Viman Nagar is a busy area with a lot of students and office folks, so we see a lot of the same faces every afternoon around tea time. We don't have much room for sitting, so most people just grab their bag of cookies and head back out to the street. The light inside is a bit yellow and the floor is just plain tile. It’s a simple setup. We just focus on keeping the trays full and making sure the jars are wiped down. It’s a quiet kind of work until the school bell rings nearby and then it gets loud for an hour or so until things settle back down.
