Book Supply Bureau

If you come looking for us at 6 Summer Garden South Main Rd., you’ll probably see a bunch of boxes stacked up near the entrance. Book Supply Bureau isn’t your typical bookstore where you sit and read on a velvet sofa. It’s more of a working warehouse where we spend most of our time packing and sorting through stacks of titles. The air always has that specific scent of old and new paper mixed together, which I’ve grown to really like over the years. We’ve got books piled up everywhere, sometimes in ways that don't look very organized to an outsider, but we generally know where everything is. It’s a small team here, just a few of us who don’t mind getting a bit of dust on our clothes while we dig through the shelves. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy slogans. We just get orders, find the books, and make sure they get to where they’re going without the corners getting bent. Sometimes the delivery van breaks down or a shipment shows up late, and we just have to deal with it as it comes. It's quiet work for the most part, except for the sound of packing tape being pulled. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a while, and the people next door are used to us moving pallets around at odd hours. It’s just a plain, straightforward business for people who actually need books for their schools or offices without any of the extra fluff you find in the big shops.
