Assam Bombay Carriers

Our office is tucked away in the Bhosale Pagaria Towers over in the Dapodi area. It is a bit of a trek to get here if you aren't used to the roads near Sandvik Asia. We deal with a lot of trucks and big boxes all day long. The desk is always covered in stacks of paper and delivery slips that I need to sign. It can get quite loud because we are near the industrial side and the heavy vehicles are always rumbling past the window. I spend most of my time on the telephone talking to drivers who are stuck in traffic or looking for the right gate in Kg Halli or Jalahalli West. The air in the office usually smells like diesel and old paper. We have a small ceiling fan that wobbles a bit but it keeps the air moving. Sometimes the tea boy forgets to come by and those are the long afternoons. We move stuff from Bombay to Assam and everywhere in between. It is mostly just coordinating where the vehicles are and making sure the loaders are ready. The stairs up to the towers are a bit steep so I don't go down more than I have to. It’s a lot of sitting and waiting and then suddenly everything happens at once. That is just how the transport business goes for us here in this part of town.
