Architect Chavan Ramesh

You can find us over at Old Baglur Layout, number 104, near the 29th Cross on DSA Road by Deccan Gymkhana. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but it’s a nice spot. The office is basically just a room where I do my architecture work. It’s not a big company with dozens of people. It’s mostly just me and a couple of helpers. We have some drafting tables and a lot of pens. The walls are covered in notes and old calendars. It’s a quiet place, which helps when you’re trying to figure out a difficult layout for a house. I’ve lived and worked in this area for a long time. People around Deccan Gymkhana know me. We don't do flashy presentations or use big words. I just draw what people need and try to make it work. Sometimes I’m out at construction sites more than I’m in the office. The desk is usually a mess of scales and erasers. But I know where everything is. It’s an old-school way of working, I guess. I don't have a fancy website. Most people just come to the door because someone told them I could help with their building plans. It’s honest work and it keeps me busy. I like the challenge of taking a simple idea and turning it into a real building plan that someone can actually use. That is why I keep the office open here.
