Ar Urmila Vaishampayan

I have been working out of the Vidyadhar building in Sadashiv Peth for quite some time now. This part of Pune is always busy, and you probably know how 1313 Sadashiv Peth gets with all the narrow lanes and the old-school vibe. Most days start with trying to find a spot for my scooter and then heading up to get things moving. It is mostly just me and a small setup here. We deal with drawings, site visits, and the usual back-and-forth that comes with architectural work. Being an architect like Urmila Vaishampayan means spending a lot of hours looking at blueprints and talking to contractors who might or might not show up on time. It is not a fancy glass office. It is more of a practical space where we actually get stuff done. Sometimes the chai guy comes by, and that is the highlight of the afternoon. People in the neighborhood know the name, and we mostly get work through word of mouth. It is not about being the biggest firm in Pune or anything like that. We just focus on the projects we have on the table right now. Dealing with the local authorities and getting permits takes up more time than I would like, but that is just part of the job here. The office has a lot of paper everywhere, samples of tiles, and pens that always seem to run out when you need them. It is a bit messy but it works for us.
