Our shop is number 8 in the Kanhaiya Housing Society. It’s a nice enough spot near Narangi Baug on Boat Club Road. If you know the area, you know it’s a bit of a busy corner. We’ve been here handling glasses and contact lenses for quite some time. The shop isn’t massive, but we’ve got enough frames on the walls to give people plenty of choices. Most of the day is spent helping folks try on different pairs to see what fits their face right. Some people take forever to pick, others are in and out in five minutes. We also do the contact lens side of things for those who don’t want anything sitting on their nose. The light in the shop is pretty bright so people can actually see what they’re looking at in the mirrors. Boat Club Road has a lot of movement, and we see all sorts of people walking by. We just focus on the eyes and making sure the prescriptions are what they need to be. It’s a straightforward business. No big gimmicks here, just us sitting behind the counter or working in the back with the lenses. The walls are a bit plain and the floor has seen better days, but it’s a practical space. We open up the shutters every morning and stay until the sun goes down. It’s a good way to spend the day in this part of town.
