Akash Computers

Up on the second floor of Venkatesh Apartments at Sadashiv Peth, you’ll find Akash Computers. It’s a bit of a quiet office compared to the shops on the ground floor, but we stay busy with all the repairs. The room is usually filled with the sound of tiny fans whirring and the occasional beep from a motherboard. We have desks covered in screwdrivers, thermal paste, and opened-up laptops that are waiting for parts. It’s not a very big space, and we have stacks of old monitors and keyboards in the corner that we use for testing. Sometimes the place feels a bit cluttered with all the wires and cables running across the floor, but we know where everything goes. People come in with broken screens or computers that won’t turn on, and we spend our time trying to figure out what went wrong. We don't use any fancy corporate language here; we just tell people what needs fixing and how long it’ll take. Usually, there’s a pot of tea on one of the desks and someone is on the phone explaining a technical problem to a customer. It’s a steady pace of work, and we like the challenge of fixing something that seemed dead. We don’t have a big storefront with neon signs, just the office in Chandan Nagar and this spot off Tilak Road. We finish up in the evenings, pack our bags, and head out into the busy street to go home.
